How the ranking works
The World Ranking is results-based and objective. Players earn ranking points from their performances at WPF-sanctioned events; those points are combined into a single ranking for each division, published periodically. The framework is governed by the WPF Ranking Committee under a published World Ranking Policy.
Sanctioned results
Only results from WPF-sanctioned competition count, so every ranked result is verified and comparable across nations.
Weighted by event tier
Points are weighted by the significance of the event — world and continental championships carry more than lower tiers — rewarding performance at the highest level.
A rolling window
The ranking reflects a rolling period of recent results, so it stays current and reflects form rather than a single result.
Per division
A separate ranking is maintained for each of the five divisions, so players are ranked against their own field.

Why the methodology is published
A credible world ranking must be transparent. WPF publishes the principles by which the ranking is calculated, and the full World Ranking Policy — adopted by the WPF Ranking Committee — will be available in the Document Library once finalised. This ensures every federation, player and partner can understand exactly how the ranking is produced.
